107A Irish EBF Median Sires Series M'dn

The Raceday Stewards enquired into possible interference in the final furlong involving Otherworldly, ridden by J.M. Sheridan, placed second, Ischgl, ridden by B.M. Coen, placed fourth, and Belle Of The Ball, ridden by S. Foley, placed fifth, where it appeared Otherworldly and Ischgl bumped. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. J.M. Sheridan stated that he nursed his mount along early and was flat out. He felt he had plenty of room when it got a bit tight when he anticipated a gap. At that point Belle Of The Ball shifted slightly when his own horse's head was in the gap. B.M. Coen stated that he followed Belle Of The Ball and kept a straight line on her girth when Otherworldly leaned a bit right. S. Foley stated that he was still there at the furlong pole when his filly started to get leg weary and shifted slightly right. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards were of the opinion that while Otherworldly had caused interference to Ischgl he did not improve his finishing position as a result of this interference so they made no alteration to the Judge’s placings and took no further action.

Adam Caffrey, rider of Star Glory, trained by Noel Meade, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount got upset in the stalls.

Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards found B.M. Coen in breach of Rule 214 in that he had ridden carelessly, and having considered his record in this regard (first offence) the Raceday Stewards suspended him for three race days.

The Raceday Stewards enquired into an incident approximately three furlongs from the finish involving Alphecca, ridden by G.F. Carroll, and Killashee Warrior (GB), ridden by J.A. Powell where it appeared Alphecca checked on the inner. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. G.F. Carroll stated that the pace was strong and he was comfortable on the inside but as the horses move to the intersection they lose space on the inner and he took a check. J.A. Powell stated that he kept straight but the rail came out to meet them and he just held his line. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards did not apportion blame to any rider and took no further action.

107G PG Duffy & Sons Citroen Apprentice H'cap

The Raceday Stewards interviewed M.C. Grassick, trainer, in relation to his withdrawal of Loingseoir from this race with the excuse of going when there had been no change of going since declaration. Evidence was heard from the trainer concerned who stated that he had declared in the hope of forecasted rain which failed to materialise. He further stated that this ten year old horse needs minding and while the ground was perfectly safe it didn't suit his charge. Having considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards allowed the withdrawal without imposing a fine on this occasion.

Casey, rider of Cannonball Queen, weighed in at 1.3 lbs overweight. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned, who stated that he had a drink after weighing out which may have accounted for him weighing in heavy. Having considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards were satisfied that A.J. Casey was in breach of Rule 231(iii) and having taken his clean record in this regard into account cautioned him on this occasion. Furthermore they advised the rider to liaise with the Chief Medical Officer in relation to his minimum riding weight. Having been informed of the nature of the enquiry and his right to be accompanied, A.J. Casey elected to proceed without accompaniment.
